20180920 – Thursday – IKEA

Today I am meeting my niece Christine S from Darwin at IKEA. This is the first time in years that I have been to IKEA.

I used to come here often when they used to have scrambled eggs available in the cafe for breakfast, but when they stopped serving it I stopped coming.

BUT, today when I came here, scrambled eggs WAS on the menu again so I don’t know when that started happening again.

I am sitting here at the window on the first floor, and so I have a view out over the car park on to Burbridge road.

The cafe is set out differently as well, white tables (which I always love for contrast with my computer screen) and it now looks cool, clean and uncluttered.

And of course, at 10.30 am there are not many people here.

So I have found myself another haunt and I am sure I will spend a lot of time here working away on my ipad.

Christine is going to be here at 11 am, so I should have time to get my post written by then.

Last night it was midweek class at South Adelaide.

Those present were, the Jacobs, Christine, Rex and Di, Elle and Bruce, Adrian, Jane, Nigel, Mickey, and a few others, but I can’t think who they were.

We were reading luke 16 and we all got involved and there was lots of discussion. I so enjoy this class, and the discussion was really lively.

This week I finished transcribing Christian Russell’s study of The Journey of the man of God, on “becoming” and NC’s study on Demons.

We spent quite a bit of time on Luke 16:9

“And I say unto you, make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness so that when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.”

I was interested in the inclusion of the word “everlasting,” because, with it’s inclusion, the verse had one meaning and without it, it had an entirely different meaning.

You all might like to think about that and see what you come up with.

I visited with my daughter Jesia on Friday and enjoyed seeing my little grandson Trystan.

In the afternoon I visited with Elle T and had a very enjoyable time. It was a good way to spend a rainy afternoon.

Peter Whitehouse Burbridge Road? You need an update. Sir Donald Bradman Drive if you please! Burbridge Road now doesn’t start until you’ve crossed Tapleys Hill Road.

Rosemary Hardy I’ve always thought the ‘everlasting habitations’ is death. Especially as it’s the unrighteousness friends who youve bought with your money who are welcoming you there.

I would say the whole section is aimed at the Pharisees, who got rich by exploiting the poor and loved to be seen.

Fay Berry Yes, I agree with you Rosemary, and I think that the next parable about the Rich Man and Lazarus is an expansion of Jesus words in Luke 16v9, “everlasting tabernacles” showing the pharisees what will happen to them when they are in those “everlasting t…See More

Peter Halpin The whole chapter is about the dangers of loving money. This influences the type of friends you attract and those who you despise. So it’s interesting how v18 seems to appear out of nowhere – but in the context it’s actually still about those who were motivated by their love of money and “connections”.
