The Hitchhiker

The Hitch Hiker - Eric Bowers and Fay Berry 1991

THE HITCH HIKER
Beside the road
Shirt draped brow
Dreaming, waiting, hoping.

Elle or Julie?
Car door open
Dreaming, hoping waiting.

Woman driving
Interest lively
Dinner in the town

Travel on
reading letters,
laughing on the phone.

About a dragon
and a lady
a battle hardly won.

About a child
and a meeting
when traveling is done.

Here was sweetness
Newly blooming
blossom on the vine.

He was reaching
for the blossom
a moment out of time.

Beside the road
shirt draped brow,
Dreaming, waiting, hoping.

Elle or Julie?
Car door open
dreaming, hoping waiting.
