20181114 – Wednesday – Unwell.

Well, I have not been feeling good for 2 days now.

I woke up on Tuesday and the first mistake I made was to weight myself!

I was 2 kg heavier than the day before. How could that be?

This made me miserable.

For the whole time I have been on this diet, I have pretty well lost weight. 

So this sudden jump upwards in my weight displeased me very much.

It shouldn’t have, I should have known better, but what I didn’t know was that I was overall and generally not feeling well.

On Monday Darren had been hassling me about the fruit and drinks that I had been having that spiked my sugar levels.

This has been an ongoing battle been Darren and me.

I wanted him to say it was OK to have some fruit in the afternoon, but the measurements were showing me that I could not.

My levels were 3-4 points higher than they should be, but I WANTED that sweet stuff.

Of course, I realise that if Darren were not “on my case,” I would probably have been “OFF” my diet and be making excuses for myself non-stop, long before the end of my first month on the no-carb diet.

So, what did I do? I stayed in bed ALL day. 

I soon found I had a small cold, strangely enough, only in one nostril!

Anyway, I veged out for the whole day. 

I did no work, oh some, I worked for 1 hour on my transcription of the movie Sodom and Gomorrah, but no diary, and lots of Netflix.

Needless to say by the end of the day I was feeling even more miserable because I had done nothing much of value.

So I slept through the night and woke up again Tuesday morning.

I thought about writing my diary, but then realised that I had NOTHING to say. Well, nothing worth saying anyway.

So I got to thinking about my blog. Why did I write it anyway?

I was probably boring the world to death. 

I was certainly boring myself to death!!

So I spent the whole of Tuesday in bed again.

I simply didn’t want to face up to the world. 

I watched a whole series on Netflix, one episode after another. 

Now I felt REALLY bad.

So today is Wednesday, and tonight is midweek class at South.

So this morning I dragged myself out of bed and what did I do, I stood on the scales to weigh myself.

I had previously decided that I would only weigh myself once a week, but here I was weighing daily.

But good news!

I was back at my normal weight, 96.8 kg it was, and my sugar level was the lowest it has been 8.1!!

So all back to normal.

I had texted Darren the night before and told him I didn’t think I would write my blog any more, or at least not write about my diet because I am surely boring people to death.

His reply came back this morning, “You had 2 fruit drinks Friday, quiche on Sunday, fruit bar yesterday’s and you keep eating 3x the number of grapes and fruit you should, so what do you expect??

“Stress, all the sugars and no exercise would hve all played their part on that.”

“Also it depends when you weighed yourself.” 

I wrote to Darren that I wasn’t going to write about my diet any more, 

He replied

Lol, don’t stop!

Write about how your eating habits are changing.

The issues you are experiencing.

The setbacks but the good things too.

Write about why you are doing it.

The things you are discovering.

I replied. OK, I will. I was feeling so depressed, didn’t want to write about it.

Darren replied. Well, u should.

If you are going to write about the ups and then you need to share the lows.

So, that is the best I can do for this morning. 

Got nothing very uplifting to say.

So here goes, my diet for 2 Days.

 

Fay: Wake up at 8.14 am Tuesday 13 Nov 2018

Pay day, purchased pair bathers from Rivers $45.

Done all banking – no swimming today. Went food shopping.

Bought all the “right stuff.”

6.4 am at 13.9 sugar level

10 units of Lantus.

I actually don’t feel good today. Have just done shopping.

Have put on weight, not taken off. 

Don’t know why I should have?

I haven’t eaten and “bad stuff”.

I can’t because bought only “good stuff.”

BUT put on weight!!!!!

Are root vegetables carbs? Not to be eaten??a

Darren: You had 2 fruit drinks Friday, quiche on Sunday, fruit bar yesterday, and You keep eating 3 x the number of grapes and fruit you should.

Root vegetables as in?

Fay: Swedes and turnips.

And by the way, I didn’t have the fruit bar!

You can have them (root vegetables) but no more than 50 grams in one sitting and only at lunch not at night.

Fay: Anyway, I don’t think I. Have eaten too much, but I will have to eat less. 

I feel rotten today!

I think I get stressed out when I pay bills!!

Going back to bed to watch movie.

Not even going to write my blog!

Darren: I don’t think you have eaten too much either. 

I think you have just been eating too many sugars and carbs in your mix, rather than fats and proteins.

It would seem the way you feel is related.

And your sugar levels have been on average 2 to 3 points higher for the past 4 days.

Fay: Yes, they have. 

Well I have bought all the “right stuff” today!

Darren: Well, that’s good.

Time to get back on the wagon!

Fay: After I’ve watched some mindless movies!

Breakfast: 1 egg, 1/2 avocado, juice of 1 small orange.

Felt unwell, went to Beard till 10.30.

Then went to bed till 12.12!!

Slept from 10.30 till 12.0!

12.19 pm at 12.9 sugar level.

10 units Novarapid

10 units Lantus.

Lunch 1 egg, 1 mushroom 1/2 tomato, few levels of spinach, 1 piece of celery.

Went back to bed.

Oh, and 1 tsp coconut oil.

I have a cold in 1 nostril!! Weird.

1.50 pm at 11.4 sugar even.

Beginning to feel better now. 

Have spent whole day in bed so far.

Might go to Inc cafe o see if I can get some work done now and do form.

Lunch Chicken, onion, tomato, mushrooms, celery, tomato paste, Water, coconut oil.

Darren: Tomato paste!

Fay: Just a small amount. 

I had some here just using it up. Won’t buy any more if it is a no, no?

Darren: Unless you are it yourself, with no sugar or additives then def not.

Fay: I guessed as much.

One last nice meal.

Darren: I will call you later when I am off the plane

And it can still be NICE, use herbs to flavour the chicken.

Things like garlic, paprika, or lemon skin gated, pepper, salt chilli flakes, turmeric. Etc etc.

Fay: I have actually and it will make 2 meals.

Darren: So many options that all taste great, are easy, are no processed, good for you and important have no SUGAR.

Fay: All of that?

Darren: Nope, pick and choose, but NO SUGAR.

Find one, 2 or three y ou like and then just keep rotating them.

Fay: No, I mean in this meal have put all of that.

Darren, where have you been on plane?

Are you on way to Adelaide?

Darren: Going to Brisbane.

Nope on my way to. Brisbane, Travel to Adelaide Thursday.

Fay: Ok. Does Ali know I am coming to Victor on Saturday or Sunday?

I will be bringing my own food

Darren:  You are coming on Sunday.

Fay: Ok.

Will they be going to Morning meeting at Victor?

Or having meeting at home?

Darren: Not sure.

Ask Mum.

Fay: Will bring a dress. Does she know I am coming?

Darren: Yes, She suggested Sunday.

Fay: Good.

5.58 pm at 11.4 sugar level

Well the tomato paste didn’t spike my sugar, so it looks as though 2 tbsp is ok.

Darren: It is processed food though.

Which is what you are trying to avoid.

Perhaps you could get diced tomatoes from a can with no added salt.

That would be more real food and give you the flavouring you want. 

Likely cheaper too.

Fay: I could, I suppose.

OK that goes on shopping list.

I feel better now but haven’t done anything much today. No work.

Does it matter that it is processed as long as no sugar in it and no spike?

Darren: No we want to avoid processed all together.

When you look in the ingredients they mix in all sorts of other nasties.

Fay: Ok

Darren: And generally wheat which you 100% want to avoid.

Fay: So much to absorb about food.

9.35 pm at 12.2 sugar level

10 units of Lantus

11.3 0 pm at 13.7 sugar level.

10 units of Novarapid.

I think I should stop writing abut my diet now, don’t you?

I economy I must be forcing people to death by now??

Ad then I won’t have to write up my diary so often.

I will still keep what’sapping though.

I reckon I won’t go to the morning meeting on Sunday.

So we can spent the morning together. What do you think?

Darren: You should keep writing your diary.

Fay: Why should I keep writing?

Isn’t it really boring!!

I am sending you a picture of Coconut water Jeff bought for me. It looks full of sugar to me.

1.18 am at 10.0 sugar level

Jeff’s gone and bought me 5 of these and I don’t think they are “kosher.”

And it is from Thailand too.

6.25 am at 8 .1 sugar level.

Wake up Wed 14th Nov 2018

I weighed this morning and am back to 96.8 kg and sugar level the lowest at 8.1.

Still have a bit of a cold.

Still want to stay in bed for day or part thereof.

Darren: It looks like it has added sugar. Says 3 grams per 100 grams at the max per 100 grams.

Fay: 7.5 am at 10.4 sugar level.

10 units of Novarapid.

So can I drink it? Or Not?

So my sugar level and weight are all back to normal. Whereas yesterday I weighed 2 kg heavier??!

Darren: Lol. No.

Stress, all the sugars and no exercise would have all played their part in that.

Also depends when u weighed yourself.

And time, before or after food.
