20190103 – Thursday – Phillip Island.

The racecourse at Mornington would have been simply ideal, but I asked a woman there whether overnight stays were permitted and they were not.

So that meant that I would have to find somewhere else to stay when nightfall came.

In the meantime, I rang up Michelle L.

She was walking on her way to the shops at Main Street in Mornington.

I arranged to meet her at the White lady Funeral parlour which was the closest to where she was currently walking.

It was so good to see her again, and she got into my car and I said I would take her out to dinner somewhere nice if she knew a place to go.

Well she suggested the Grand as being the place to go, but getting there proved almost impossible.

Mornington was simply overflowing and crowded with squillions of people, and we simply could not find a place to park.

Michelle then suggested we go to The Rocks which is by the sea and hopefully being away from Main Street, may not be as crowded.

Well, that was no better, but finally I found a place where all the boaties parked their boats and we found one place that was free, and because it was for parking boats, it was also long enough for me to fit my trailer.

We parked, and then walked back to The Rocks and then found a spot on the decking overlooking the sea. It was perfect.

(Later on in the afternoon Michelle messaged me as follows:

Turns out the place we ended up was called Shnapers, I thought it was the Rocks, the rocks was directly next door!

Which I didnt realize till we walked out and walked to the car, haha!

So we ordered a warm chicken salad each and a bottle each of lemon, lime and bitters.

It was a lovely lunch, just perfect in fact.

It was such a beautiful day and we hadn’t seen each other for a long time, so we talked and talked and then some!

I love having my trailer.

It means that visiting with Michelle was a wonderful “window” of opportunity, but then when the dinner was over, I was able to say “Goodbye” and not disrupt Michelle’s life, or my own, by having to stay overnight at her place.

It gives me so much more freedom.

So I finally said “goodbye” and then drove to Woolworths in a shopping centre nearby and did my shopping for food for the next day or so.

Provisioned up, I then drove along the highway towards Phillip Island,  looking out all the time for somewhere suitable to stay.

I found a racecourse just off the Highway and went to check it out to see if there were overnight facilities.

There were not.

But there were lots of suitable places to stay beside the roads which I considered, but then  I decided to go all the way to Phillip Island and hopefully find something there, where I actually wanted to be when I woke up tomorrow morning.

I keyed in Cowes, Phillip Island and went the whole way to the other side of the island to Cowes, which is the main town on the island.

It was getting around dusk and so I needed to find somewhere to stay before it Got dark.

I found a spot almost immediately.

It was a grassed area behind the bowling club.

It turned out to be absolutely ideal.

I pulled up behind a couple of trees and climbed int to my trailer.

It was peaceful and secluded, PERFECT.
