20190307 – Thursday to Sunday – Adelaide ecclesia

Saturday morning Tim C came around to work on my computer, and as usual he worked his magic and managed to get “the Brain” to work on my iPhone.

I was so happy about this.

I had a list of about 5 things that I needed doing and he addressed each one of my problems and fixed them all.

What would I do without Tim.

Tim then drove me back to his home to catch up with his wife Liz and 2 kids Eli and Ollie.

Eli is the most gorgeous looking kid, tall and slim and Ollie looks more like his grandmother Karen with big eyes and a soulful look, like butter would n’t melt in his mouth.

But as Liz told me, “Don’t be deceived, he is a handful.”

Well, that’s what having children is all about!

At about 3.30 Tim drove me home and so I have enjoyed another day of “outings” without my license!

Sunday morning Fay and I decided to go to the Adelaide ecclesia for the memorial meeting because South Adelaide were all going to be at the Port Hughes camp.

I, of course, was unable to attend the camp because I was without my driving license.

So, Fay picked me up at 10.15 and we drove to the Halifax Street hall ad parked in the disabled car park at the rear of the hall.

We walked in the hall greeting friends as we went through into the main hall.

We found seats on the left hand side of the hall a few rows from the front on the left where I could put my walker part way into the aisle.

The Halifax street hall is so very familiar to me.

I used to sit almost in this very same position when my Dad used to give out the emblems when I was a baby up to when I got married and up to 1964, when we joined the Woodville ecclesia.

People are so very friendly at Adelaide.

Gaynor M spoke to us first, and then Marg W came up and said “hello,” Cathy R. And after the meeting, Joan G, Maureen E, Don and Lois Mc and sundry others.

It is so good to be welcomed as we were.

Dean K gave the exhortation on warning signs we will encounter in our walk toward God.

It was so good to be there with Fay, because two are always better than one.

When I looked around the hall I realised that so many of us had all got “old” together, and that in a few years time, when all our generation had passed, if we do before Christ returns, that the hall would be considerably less full.

Though full it was not, today, because so many had gone away for the long weekend, so there were no young people at all in the hall.

Yet there were still enough people to give the hall that “homely” feeling.

We sat and chatted with various ones after the meeting and then began our journey home.

Fay said that her husband was in NZ this week and so I suggested we go out for lunch since she had not time constraints today.

We went to Vili’s because I knew that it would be open today.

Fay said she had never been to Vili’s before and she was amazed at how many people were there.

The Cafe was absolutely chockers, and we managed to get a seat by the wall away from the busier spots.

Fay had schnitzel and salad and I had a T-bone steak and salad and we both had a mug of flat white.

We talked about lots of subjects of interest to each other before Fay dropped me off at home.
