Print Friendly, PDF & Email

imageI have been very frustrated today. I decided I would join Flikr and so I went to the Flickr site and began to fill in the form. I filled in all the data, chose an email name, and password which I carefully recorded because I forget passwords instantly, so need to have them written down.

Then something went wrong, it needed one of those Captcha thingies, and for some reason I don’t seem to manage those very well. I can NEVER type in the right numbers or letters, so when that didn’t work for the 4th time, I tried the audio and that didn’t work either. Maybe my time had run out to fill it in or something.

So I tried to get help and they sent me my Yahoo ID to my phone, but when I went back to the site to try to use it to complete the process, I found it wasn’t asking for ID# it was asking for the email address!  but when I tried to use the email address I had chosen they said it was “unavailable.” Ahhhhhh!!! That would be because I had entered that email address but not successfully completed the process. Well, having failed miserably to get a Flickr or Yahoo account up and running, in the end, just gave up.

That wasn’t all that made my day difficult. I found that my beloved program “The brain” had come up for renewal and that was going to cost me $229, or if I was lucky $185 because it is cheaper to renew than to get a new account. If I don’t renew, I will not be able to drag and drop URLs into my “brain” or import files from my computer. Even if I decided to pay the fee, I would have to pay that and more next year.

Ok! Well, what to do? I decided I would not renew. I would just have use my “brain” differently. If I want to save a URL from the internet and import it into my “brain,’  I will now have to copy and paste the URL into the notes section of the “thought” I create,  and when I want to use the URL I will have to copy and paste it into the URL bar on my browser because it won’t even let me just click on the link! It is going to be such a nuisance, but I can still function OK, I guess. It will just take longer. So that’s not too bad really.

As far as importing files into my “brain” from my computer, I will have to open the file on my computer then copy and paste the data into the notes section of the “thought,” instead of just dragging and dropping the file into the “thought.” Of course, this will mean I will have to have a larger number of thoughts under headings because I will need a new notes section each time I do this.

Ah well. It is a pain, but at least I can still use my “brain” and I will save myself having to pay the renewal fee, so that is a plus. Why did they have to invent computers? I am sure life was much simpler before that. Of course, I was there before there were computers but I hardly remember there being such a time because they are so much a part of my life these days…
