20180324.1 – Saturday – Small Moments – Karen and Rod and Forrest

I had a fairly disturbed night, because every muscle in my body seemed to be on fire, but that actually cheered me up, because I could tell, that all the (for me) extreme amount of exercise I had been doing at the school had inflamed my muscles generally throughout my body.

Why is this good? Well, this is my theory, the inflammation from excessive exercise will soon subside, and should be able to walk a lot better than before. On top of that more exercise reduces my sugar levels and so I will need less insulin to cope with my sugar levels now.

Around 2.30 I could stay in bed no longer, so I got up and went out into the kitchen and typed up a ‘Small Moments” episode.

Then when I went back to bed, I did sleep, so that was good. By the time I did wake up everyone else in the house was awake as well. Karen and Rod were there, and an amazing array of “others” appeared at the door and came in and sat down and drank cups of tea while Gail cooked breakfast.

This was a very familiar thing for me, because way back in the 60s when Jeff and I got married, every weekend young brothers and sisters used to turn up and help Jeff with charts or whatever was happening in the house at the time.

Vit Jurevicius and Jim Cowie seemed to be just about permanent residents. I used to threaten them that I might as well charge them board and lodging since they were at our place almost every weekend.

And so here was this generation who came to share Gail’s “bounty” and have wonderful chats whilst she worked away cooking and painting and cleaning.

After the Thurlows departed taking little Forrest with them, Gail and I went out into the garden and she painted some cement surrounds for some vines she planned to grow up a wall. I sat out in her BEAUTIFUL pergola that Rod has built for her.

Here there is an outside power point, so my set up of long power cord, small 6 outlet power connector, and laptop, ipad and iPhone and modem, giving me internet connection for all was able to be set up. I sat outside and I chatted and typed and drank coffee, and I can think of no better way to spend an afternoon.

Gail has gone out somewhere for the evening and I have a peaceful evening here at home to catch up on everything that needs catching up. Gail has washed all my clothes, so everything is organised ready for tomorrow and the Hunter Valley memorial meeting.

And now? I am off to bed.
