20180821 – Tuesday – Nina

This morning I went to the Plank and asked if they had found my poncho.

No?

I am convinced that if I did not write my journal (most days) that my memory would very soon disappear.

Even when I do keep up to date, I have real trouble remembering what I did yesterday when I write up my journal.

I have to fish around in my memory until at last something jogs my memory and then I can start writing.

Then of course the writing of the memory fixes it in my memory, and then if I forget anything I can always search back in my journal and find the missing information.

Well, yesterday, I texted my friend Nina, and found that she had had a stroke and was now at Flinders medical centre in the strokes ward.

Nina is an old friend from my “Holiday Concepts” days when I worked selling Timeshare. Not sure how many years ago that was, but a very long time indeed, way before my stroke in 2008.

Nina is from a large Greek family and there was Dina her sister working there, and also Kochy, her son.

I made so many friends there, there was Max(ine) and Cyn Critchley and so many others.

I have kept in touch with Nina and her family for all the years since then.

Dina has died and now we are all old enough to be having strokes and such.

For the last few days I have been listening to a number of studies by Jim Dillingham, and have decided that I will only post a study if I have listened to it immediately before I post.

That gives me an incentive to keep on listening. My aim is to post all 39 of his talks this year.

I keep in touch with JD by email every now and then with my questions that arise from his studies.

I always wonder how he got such Bible knowledge and insight, because his studies are like no others that I have EVER heard.

I have learned so much from him.

And what I like about him is that he ALWAYS answers my emails almost immediate after I have written them.

This morning I weighed myself and I am now 86K!!!! I have lost since 10th March 2018 11K!!

That is wonderful. I just hope I keep on going.

I am going to ask “George” if he can work on my legs. I asked him if he could do anything for my legs and he said “No,” what IS, IS. But I am not so sure.

My legs have gradually over the years become more and more bowed and that is probably partly why I can’t walk very well without my walker.

Anyway, we shall see.

I noticed this morning that I can stand (when doing the dishes at the kitchen sink) for a longer period of time now.

Beulah Edwards has just finished her book on the History of the world called “The course of Time.”

She texted me a day or so ago telling me that she is coming to Adelaide soon (from NZ) and she would like me to have read her book by then.

She urged me to get straight on to CSSS and purchase a copy.

Well, I tried, but the CSSS website had me going around in circles in trying to get a new password.

In the end I gave up and told her that I had.

She urged me to ring David Archer and order it direct from him.

I did, and he said he had one copy there but it had his name in it. I said that did not matter, and ended up driving out to his place to pick it up.

I keyed in the address that was on the CSSS site and drove there, but that turned out to be Brian Luke’s address.

So armed with the correct address, I finally ended up at David Archer’s address, and so I had Beulah’s book.

When I got home I texted Beulah, and told her I had her book in my “hot little hands.”

Her reply came immediately.

Gracious! How did you get it so quickly? Helicopter drop or something??

So I have now scanned her book, read the first chapter, found how the book flows and I am very impressed.

I met Beulah when Jeff and I went to NZ in 1974 for the Rangiora Bible School that Jeff was leading studies for in that year. So that is 44 years we have known each other. How the years fly!!

I contacted Afiena Beard and made an appointment to visit her at Nuriootpa in September.

Made an appointment with Alison Gore for this Thursday.

I received a text message from Sarah my niece and she is going to be in Adelaide this coming week and would like to take me out to dinner on next Tuesday, so that will be nice.

She is an athlete and won the World Fitness Association competition I think in about 2015 becoming Miss Universe of WBFF. I think I got that right, hey Sarah?

She didn’t get her genes from me.
