20181126 – Monday – Podiatrist.

Yesterday I went to South Adelaide for the morning meeting.

Ali G came in and sat down in front of me. She was to be the pianist for the morning.

Ali always practices very hard for such occasions and she always chooses some beautiful pieces to play.

Paul Gresham was the speaker and he prepares some interesting material as well.

He talked about Goliath of Gath and demonstrated how tall he was, almost 9 1/2 ft high.

To give us an idea of how tall Goliath was, he had Bruce T stand up on the platform as the tallest one among us, demonstrating that Goliath was over 3 1/2 ft talker than Bruce.

David must have felt very small beside Goliath.

And yet David was unafraid because the God of Heaven was his inspiration.

After the meeting I drove to my favoriate spot, Cafe Inc.

I received a phone call from Peter and Colleen R, asking me if I would like to meet up for lunch.

I suggested they come to Cafe Inc to check it out and praised it up to them.

But there was a problem, they did not have GPS (who does NOT use GPS) and so they were dependent on my instructions to find there way to the cafe.

Well, the cafe Inc is quite difficult to find.

If you come along the Esplanade beside the beach from the north, you come to the Surf Lifesaving Club and will have no trouble finding Inc from there.

BUT if you come to the Esplanade from the Seacliff end of the Esplanade,  you can’t get through to the road that leads into Inc.

Well I had difficulty finding which way along which part of the Esplanade they were coming.

So it too 20 minutes or so to finally meet up.

By this time Colleen’s was steaming out of her ears, and suffering from low sugar levels and so was not terribly happy with me and my driving instructions.

I suggested they invest in a GPS as a first step in the right direction.

THEN, we found that the kitchen had closed at 2 pm and so a meal was not possible and only biscuits and various kinds of confectionary.

At last we were all seated and Colleen had cooled down and we could enjoy each other’s company.

I thought about all the technology we have at our fingertips these days, GPS being just one of them.

I thought of all the travels I have recently gone upon, up the east coast of Australia.

GPS has been so wonderfully helpful to me.

Just key in your destination and follow the instructions.

It has meant that I can drive Melbourne, through Sydney and through Brisbane with impunity.

I can find petrol, and restaurants and IGAs to buy food, whereas I remember poring over maps or going to the RAA to get strip maps for all the places I wanted to go.

Times have changed so much.

We take for granted that we can find the answer to almost any questing, by just “googling” it.

My husband, Jeff, used to be the “google” of the 1960s.

Anyone who had a question used to ask him for the answer, and he usually could tell us SOMETHING about whatever question we asked.

My recent searches have been for information on a low-carb diet, and in a flash I have videos to watch of Dr Tim Noakes.

Then there was the film the Magic Pill which describes the food industry’s scam in this generation.

Immediately I am able to access all the data for and against their claims.

We do not have to remain ignorant in this age.

Truly “knowledge has been increased” and “man are running to and fro” in this the “time of the Gentiles.”

But it can’t go on for much longer.

Along with the advances in technology for good, is the advances that are made in armaments, used to fulfil the evil desires of men.

It is the end of the age, and time for the Return of Jesus Christ to this earth.

And may he come very soon to heal this beleaguered earth.

My diet for yesterday.

Darren: I noticed you have stopped detailing what foods you have been eating for each meal.

Fay: Oh, I have forgotten.

Breakfast and lunch were fish, tomato, avocado, celery mushrooms, 1 plate nibbled throughout afternoon and few nuts.

Now boiling some eggs for later on.

I went shopping for steak and chicken, Avos and tomatoes, piece of banana and half peach.

Afternoon. Will test in about a 1/2 hour.

Avocado and carrot, 2 eggs

6.10 pm at 7.3 sugar level.

Darren: that is a good rate, got to keep deworming for those numbers.

Fay: Steak and chicken, avo, tomato, carrot, celery, mushrooms, 1/2 p each few berries.

It is cold and I am already in bed and enjoying the eel o protein inside of me.

11.15 pm at 12.7 sugar level

10 units Lantus

10 units Novarapid

2.46 am at 9.6 sugar level

10 Novarapid

Not good sleep – disturbed.

Woke up feeling disturbed and restless.

From Noakes video the reason I should not be eating fruit is that just a banana and an apple adds enough carbs that I will not lose weight.

Had to have less than 50 grams of carbs to lose weight.

4.45 m at 4.7 sugar level

8.03 am at 5.5 sugar level

Wake up at 8.0 am

Weight 96.4 kg

This weight simply will not budge.

Darren: So r u saying u r believing me about the fruit?

Fay: Unfortunately, Yes!!

Because I am not losing weight and Noakes give the reason why!

As I have to be eating under 50 grams carbs before I will lose weight.

He says that if u r insulin resistant and u r eating more that’s 50 gams of carbs a day, that is 1 apple and 1 banana, u r not going to lose weight!

So there goes all my fruit.

And I have proved it by staying 96.4 kg for over a month now.

He says he can’t prove this from studies because there are none, but has observed it is the case.

So ur Right!

Darren: Well, that is great news. You have been able to test, measure and prove the theory for yourself.

You are far more likely to make the change now if you believe it is so.

Fay: Yes, I will make the change!!

I WANT to lose weight more than I want the fruit.

Darren: I think that it is also good you are getting those levels to the right amount (4- 7) and see how much insulin that takes.

Now we can really start working on keeping those levels low and taking less and less insulin, hopefully.

Fay: Yes, but I still won’t get weight loss unless no carbs

Darren: or get off insulin.

The 2 outcomes are tied to the same thing.

Fay: That’s true. I tis not FAIR!

Darren: You also need to increase your exercise now.

I said it would be time eventually.

Where his would need to become a more intern he’d thing in your routine.

Fay: Not until I weight less and have less to cart around.

I HATE exercise.

Darren: We need to start now with light exercise in the pool at least 5 x a week.

Fay: I want to sit and write.

3 times a week.

Darren: Don’t you also want your mobility back, your weight off and your ability to be free?

Fay: Yes, but writing more pleasurable.

Darren: Or do you just want to be a fat blob at her computer and eventually struggle to move from the computer to her bed?

And that has to have someone look Father her, shower her and feed her?

Fay: I’m not answering any of that.

Darren: Truth hurts doesn’t it.

Fay: Yes.

You are a hard task master.

Darren: 5 x a week is what you need.

We will start next week at 4, following week must be 5.

Deal?

Fay: No 5 times a week takes 2 hours out of every day!!

Darren: Now can you swim?

And you have 16 hours free in every day.

Fay: Yes, but I only exercise my legs.

Darren: And What does the current exercise look like in that pool?

Fay: Otherwise I get my hair wet.

Darren: How many times doe you go up and down in the the lanes?

Fay: I don’t, I do it on the spot.

Get off my case, Darren.

Darren: for how long, normally?

Fay: 1 hour.

Darren: As in you stand it the same spot for 1 hour, raising legs up and down?

Fay: Yes.

I don’t stand I have a noodle between my legs.

And I ride it like on a bike.

And there is usually music to keep time to.

Darren: OK, next week for the 4 days let’s Chiang that up.

And I don’t want to hear about me getting off your case.

It is time to harden up if you want to make a Chiang, guess what, it takes will power and hard work.

You have started the journey.

It is tie to up the ante if you actually want to achieve your goals.

Fay: Oh, Darren, leave me be.

Darren: So exerciser changes at the pool, same amount of time, but a mixture of movements to get more and different muscles activated in the body.

10 mins – with noodle, on the spot moving legs up and down.

20 minutes – walk up and down the pool.

10 minutes, hold on to the side of the pool and kick your legs.

10 minutes swimming laps, use which ever stroke feels most comfortable.

10 Mins – Sauna or steam room and stretch (try to touch your toes, or get as close too).

Fay: No sauna and steam, costs more and can’t be bothered.

No swimming laps get hair wet.

Darren: Then sit inthe cold spa area switch a jet on your back for 10, same thing though, still try to touch your toes.

Fay: OK

Darren: Get a swimming cap if you are worried about your hair.

They cost $5.

Fay: I don’t like swimming laps.

Darren: Like you didn’t like changing your diet.

Fay: Just GOING to the pool is hard enough.

Darren: Do slow laps.

But laps are a must.

Fay{ Why?

Darren: Because laps and using your upper and lower body for 10 minutes would use more energy and more of the body than an hour + of what you were doing in the past.

It is great for your lungs, shoulders, legs, flutes, hips, last, etc etc.

But of course you already know this.

Fay: I am EXERCISE resistant!

Darren: so make a choice not to be.

God hates lazy people.

Isn’t that right?

Fay: That is unfair and under the belt.

Darren: Pretty sure slothfulness is actually listed as a sin in the Bible.

Fay: Why do you always have to be right?

Darren: Pretty sure God wanted people to always be trying, always working to be better, and not letting their ego get in the way of those things.

Fay: God wants other things as well.

Darren:Yeah but I think. You are pretty good at those.

It is time to focus on your weaknesses and no your strengths just for a little while.

Fay: OK, I will walk up and down.

And go 3 days a week if possible.

Darren: 4 times a week next week, 5 Father and s I have written up.

You are retired, have 16 hours a day of free time to choose how to use it.

An hour 5 times a week is no sacrifice to gain back your mobility, health and freedom.

Fay : I will think about it. Right now I am exhausted from EXERCISING my brain.

Darren: You can think about it.

Fay: OK.

Darren: but trust me,  you will not hear the end of it from me.

Fay: I know, I know, u r like a dog with a bone.

Lunch, I forgot to have breakfast.

2 boiled eggs, mushrooms tomato and green tea.

Darren: That’s not good. You must have been starving.

Did u have any fats with lunch?

Fay: No.

Dr Noakes says exercise has nothing to do with weight loss.

Only diet has to do with weight loss.

Exercise is not necessary for weight loss.

I u r eating the wrong diet, you will be fat.

Exercise has nothing to do with weight loss.

And he shows a graph to prove it with elite athletes.

Darren: Lol, if you put as much power to train to show my why you shouldn’t exercise to actually just doing it, u should be done and fit already.

Now, if we take weight loss out of the equation for 1 second.

Why do we need to include exercise.

– to improve lug capacity and breathing

– to improve blood flow around muscles and joints to start increasing both strength and mobility.

– to strengthen core muscles like the heat to improve our fitness.

I can give you about 30 points by the way.

Fay, I am not Jenny Craig selling you a weight loss program.

I am Darren, your friend, who cares for you and wants y our overall HEALTH to significantly improve so you can have a wonderfull quality of life and do things you have no been able to do for the last 10-30 years.

This isn’t  diet plan and frankly I care more about your sugar levels, blood pressure levels, your body fat%, your sleep patterns, how you feel, again I could go on and on.

Exercise and movement is a critical factor i getting you healthy.

Stop acting like a spoilt school girl who is not getting her way.

Fay: Darren, I simply have more important hints to do with my time.

I don’t WANT that way of life.

Maybe I will be ready a bit later on in my life.

But 3 days a week and walking up and down int he pool is the best I can offer at this time.

I want to WRITE!

I don’t want to run or swim marathons.

And I believe I can achieve my goals by diet alone.

So give me time and space, PLEASE.

I don’t have the mindset of a cross fitter or the determination of a Sarah O.

I am happy being me.

Darren: How about stopping your toes falling off.

And I’m not asking you to run marathons.

Fay: to me it seems that u r.

I am so sorry, Darren, but I only have a few years maybe of life left and I want to do what is important to me.

“Bodily exercise profits for a little time” Nd there are thins which are more important to e.

Darren: Then our journey comes to an end on this topic Ms Berry.

Fay: And that is reading and writing and thinking about God.

Darren: It is tie yo be just friends again.

No more diet or daily updates on Whatsapp.

Fay: Thank u for your help and I am sorry I am a disappointment to you.

Darren: It is a shame though. As an 80 year old your story could have been quite incredible in terms of the change both physically and mentally.

If you change your mind let me know. I’ll still be here.

Fay: Thanks Darren.   You put me on this path and I am grateful.
