20181226 – Wednesday – Keith Showgrounds

I camped at the Keith oval and Showgrounds last night.

It was a fairly noisy night.

The whole street next to the Showgrounds was lit up with fairy lights for Xmas, and later on in the evening there were fireworks.

As is normal for me on my first night out, I didn’t sleep a wink the whole night.

So annoying.

I watched netflix when I got bored, but was too tired to be bothered, yet obviously not tired enough to sleep.

And now it is 8 am at the BP service station on the Dukes Highway, Keith, I have just eaten a lovely breakfast of eggs and bacon, minus the toast.

It is another bright sunny day.

I am pretty sure I will have to stop at a parking bay somewhere to have a sleep, but that’s okay.

I forgot to take a photo of the Showgrounds which I wanted to do for future reference.

The nice part is that everything is working on my trailer and it is so easy to get packed up in the morning.

And with all the sunlight my solar panel is working well, and all my batteries are charged.

I remember back in March when I began my earlier travels up the east coast of Australia to Lismore and to Brisbane, how unwell I was at that time.

Now, I know how to eat a whole lot better than I did at that time.

Every morning, if possible I will eat a meat-based breakfast, such as eggs and bacon or sausages and eggs, maybe a little fruit, this time I have an apple to eat later in the day when/if I get hungry.

Then maybe a piece of fish or such for dinner at night.

My sugar level was 6.0 this morning, without insulin, so that is wonderful!

If I had only known about this diet years ago, before 2008, I would never have had the stroke that I had which has so messed up my health ever since.

But it is never too late to change one’s life-style.

So my weight before I began this trip was 96 kg.

I will see what it is like on my return journey.

I will try to remain healthier on this adventure than I was on my last trip, earlier in the year.

Kate D contacted me last night. She has just returned home from Tassie and has her son Jonah D and girlfriend Laura to stay in her little unit and they are having such fun.

I so admire Kate and Selena. They have overcome many adversities with such optimism and good grace.

It isn’t WHAT happens to you in life.

It is how you handle what happens to you that is important.

It is wonderful that the service stations remain open over Xmas, otherwise I could no do this trip without fuel and food.

So I thank God for this day and hope that his return could happen today.

How wonderful that would be.
