20170107 – Saturday – Nora Brewer’s Death

David Brewer posted this photo on facebook to let all his facebook friends know that his dear mother Nora has died today. He wrote:

, “Our darling mum, Nora, passed away in peace this morning. She loved everyone unconditionally and is loved by so many. This is for all of you, who loved her, whose lives have been touched by the most amazing, selfless, humble, loving and classy lady we call Mum, Grandma, Ga and Nora. She now sleeps in anticipation of God’s kingdom to come.”

I have many memories of Nora and Bert, In fact I have always retained one rather wonderful memory of both Bert and Nora which happened many, many years ago.

I think it was around 1967ish and Jeff and I were in Melbourne and I think Jeff was leading a class in someone’s home. Class members had been arriving and I was on the door letting them come in.

The door bell rang and I went to answer the door and found a man at the door who I did not know.  I said “Hello,” and asked him his name. He said his name was Bert Brewer. I asked him where his wife was, not knowing even if he had a wife. He looked at me surprised and answered, “She’s at home, she doesn’t come with me.” I said “And why doesn’t she come with you. I think you should go home and get her.” Bert looked at me, surprised, but then turned and walked to his car, got in and drove away. I was appalled at what I had just done, and so anxious that Bert might not come back. I hovered around the door waiting for the doorbell to ring again..

To my HUGE relief, the bell rang again and when I opened the door, there were both Bert and Nora.  I welcomed Nora with great enthusiasm, and after the class, Bert told me that he had been trying to get Nora to come along in the past, but up to this moment she had refused to come with him. This night, however, she enjoyed herself so much, that she continued to attend all the classes and eventually was baptized.

My good friend Kate Daniels sent me this photo of her and her family having a catch up. Love Kate.

I spent my usual stint on the seafront at Henley Beach.

I have been working so hard at learning WordPress and trying to get my web site to my satisfaction.

My computer has been playing up as it does and I rang my friend Tim Colliver to ask his advice about when and if I should upgrade to a new and better computer and whether to choose an Apple or a PC.I would prefer to go to an Apple, but it all depends whether my necessary programs are transferable from my PC to the Apple. It is so good to have someone to ask these questions. Now that I am practically happy with my Web-site, it is time for me to start adding more material to my site. I have Now put up Volume 2 of The Blacksmith’s Daugher and have put up 5 chapters of that. I think it is now time to write Chapter 6.

I have been doing very well with keeping  my sugar levels under control lately. The specialist who has been working with me has increased my Lantus and Novarapid, and that seems to be doing the trick. Of course, this means I am feeling a lot better as well.
