20181008 – Tuesday – Peter H
Yesterday I met with Peter H at “The Shack” which is the cafe next to the Caravan Park at West Beach.
It is a lovely cafe with an outdoor area shaded with umbrellas and palm trees.
I was all prepared for Peter when he arrived, with my modem plugged in and computer powered up.
I was intent on learning as much as I could in the time that we had, so that I could solve at least some of my problems by myself.
In a flash he had worked out what I was doing wrong and had it all fixed, or most of it, in a very short time.
I had struggled and laboured over it for ages and could not work out what or where I was going astray.
The more intricate problems we decided to leave for Peter to work on remotely at home, so that we could more valuably use our time together for a catch up.
We went outside in the sunshine and settled ourselves at a table in the sun.
We talked all about Lismore where Peter used to live and where I have been just recently.
We have lots of good memories to share of people and places up “the Sunshine Coast.”
Eventually, Peter left, having spent the whole afternoon with me (not making money, but sharing priceless memories).
“I can catch up at home tonight and keep the income flow going,” he said.
Peter makes his income from helping people with their computer problems and also by being an “affiliate” on various of his web sites.
He is always telling me that I could be making money over the internet as well – passive income that comes in while you are sleeping.
But as I pointed out, that is okay if you have time and you have built in the “multiplier” into your life.
But for me at 78 it is too late for that and it is more important for me to concentrate on sharing my life with my friends.
At 78, money doesn’t mean so much as it did when I was 20. My riches are my friends. And building relationships with them is worth more to me than any amount of $$.
Eventually the air began to be a little chill, and it was time for each of us to return home.
Later on in the evening I got this text message from Peter.
Hi Fay. Thanks for the chat today. It was good for my soul. 🙂
A message like that from a friend is worth everything to me.
I received another message today which gave me a great deal of pleasure.
It was from Susie J and it read,
“Hello my very good friend. Steve would like to do your trailer this week and can he pick it up today? Is it registered? He will need it for a few days as it will take a while to fix it.”
On my travels up the east coast at Tweed Heads I had run my trailer over a concrete bollard and it had flown up skywards and almost overturned, but came down instead with a thump, twisting the whole towbar frame.
Now my jockey wheel was jammed and irretrievably twisted.
And now dear Susie and Steve were fixing it for me!
I love my friends.
All the way up the coast in my travels I have always felt safe and secure because I know I have such good friends who will jump to my aid if I get myself into trouble.
