20181105 – Tuesday – Melbourne Cup
Darren sent me his latest blog to edit yesterday, and so I edited it and of course read it as I did so.
It is so interesting hearing his “side of the story,” of those events of the years 2003-8 when he and I were in business together.
He was just a boy of around 16 when we went into business and those years had an amazing impact on both our lives.
We sat side by side, typing away, in our respective work roles.
I looked after the books, and he did all the other work that our business required.
I loved that first shop that we had.
I had used some of the cash from the sale of two properties to set up the shop and we fitted it out, looking back, in hindsight, in rather an unnecessary and elaborate fashion.
But it was a beautiful shop.
I loved the kitchen.
It was a full-sized kitchen, with a large table in the centre.
This became the meeting place for all the young Christadelphians in the neighbourhood.
Everyone came in to visit, at one time or another, and we had a number of the young ones working for us.
It was such a fun time and we learned a great deal from this first business.
Ah, the memories.
Well, more to the point, today was Melbourne cup day.
After I came home from Inc cafe where I worked on my iPad for an hour or so, I then went home and hopped into bed for a short nap, and I am afraid to say I slept through it.
My diet for yesterday
Fay: Tuesday, 6th Nov 2018 at 9 am breakfast of eggs and fish and grapes.
Darren: Gonna watch the race today?
Fay: Probably not.
Going to Inc Cafe
Home and slept
5.15 pm at 11.2 sugar level
Missed the race.
Had a wonderful sleep.
Dinner at 5.49 pm Chop and vegetables.
Darren: those levels are great.
Fay: More dinner, chicken, avocado, tomato, cucumber, coconut milk.
Yes the levels are good.
Darren: Did you do 1/2 avo and 1/4 cu coconut milk?
If so that would be too much fat for one sitting.
Fay: Just slice avocado and two sips coconut milk.
Darren: Ok that’s all good then.
Fay: I have just received through the post a maxi dress, XL, which fits me really well and looks great, even now, but when I have lost more of my tummy, will look even better.
SOON I will be able to clear out my wardrobe and just have new GOOD stuff!
The dress cost me $98 and is the most I have spent on a dress for years.
The material is wonderful and will last me for years and years, just wash and wear.
Darren rang me and we had a chat.
