20190708 – Monday – Tim Mackie

20190708 -Monday – Tim Mackie

Right now I am sitting on the Veranda of my unit.

I am waiting for the meals on wheels people to turn up and start providing me with daily meals.

Since my Stroke I have been finding more and more things that I don’t manage well.

I am unable to think about food and shopping is difficult.

And so it would be good for me if I could just have it all attended to and not have to put my limited brain power to work.

For instance right now I am dictating my diary into my phone because I can no longer use my right hand for typing as I am used to do.

This is a whole new way of working for me and I am just getting used to it.

A week or so ago I was deep in depression.

I was using a lot of negative self talk and was spiralling deeper and deeper into the abyss.

What brought me out of it was that I discovered Tim Mackie.

Well I didn’t discover him, my daughter did.

I began listening to his studies on Matthew.

They were on Podcasts, and I found them difficult to listen to.

But because of my daughter I persevered.

But then I found his videos on YouTube and everything changed.

I found his Bible knowledge and understanding   amazing.

So far his major wrong doctrine is belief in the Trinity but that is simple enough to write out and ignore.

The quality of the rest of his work is just amazing.

So I was lifted out of my depression and began listening to his wonderful words.

He takes the Bible as a whole, and works through it linearly.

He has a wonderful knowledge of Hebrew and Greek and is able to explain the meaning of words so very well.

I have listened to 15 of his talks on Matthew so far, and I find them so inspiring.

His story interested me very much.

He grew up in Portland, Oregon and he was a skateboard ‘freak.’

He used to skate at the skate park run by a religious group.

In order to be able to skate at the park young skaters had to sit and listen to Bible talks by the conveners of the skate park.

So that was his introduction to the Bible when he was very young.

Then he began his education and eventually became the pastor of a church called ‘door of hope.’

He is quite a hyper active individual and uses very unique language.

He would be about 40 years of age now, but he still looks very young.

His wife’s name is Jessica and he has two young children.

Anyway I am very glad I have ‘met’ him and I am going to learn lots from him.

Well, it looks like I am going to be able to start posting again by dictation and not by typing.

I have felt really lost without being able to post each day.

It is my way of keeping my head straight.

At 80 years of age my body is wearing out but hopefully my brain will keep going for a little longer.

On Sunday I went to South Adelaide with my friend Nina.

Peter B gave the exhort and it was a beautiful exhort, straight from the heart.

Most of us were in tears throughout as we followed his heartfelt words.

To top it off we had joseph as a pianist for the day and his playing was as much and exhortation as anything that had gone before.

Goodbye depression, I am alive again.
