20181031 – Wednesday – Inc cafe
Inc Cafe is really a unique place.
Because it is on old Minda property, the people who live at Minda come in their droves to socialise here.
They come in their wheelchairs and walking sticks, and with their “minders.”
I think that this would put off a large proportion of the ordinary people who would otherwise come here, because of the “noises” that these unfortunate people often make.
But I don’t mind it at all because their sense of “community” is wonderful.
They all know each other and I am sure the management put on different food that is not on the menu to cater for them.
Most of them come for the company, and the food is only secondary, and I am presuming they couldn’t afford some of the prices in this place, so they get given smaller “snack-type” food.
So I have connected my iPhone and iPad to the power here, which means I am now sitting on the bench seats by the wall.
I worked for most of the afternoon on my blog and my transcribing.
And now for my dietary story.
Fay: Whatever I have done with my insulin it has affected my eyesight.
I think I have taken too much insulin.
Darren: So you took 40 units overnight?
Fay: Yes and it is affecting m y eyes as it always used to do.
Have to get the insulin worked out, that’s for sure.
I am at Marin to get my iPad fixed.
Am I still under contract with my phone, do you know?
My sugar level this morning was 14.6 on wake up ad then I took 20 of Lantus which stuffed up my eyes.
I reckon I should have only taken 40 Lantus in morning and if Iwas still too high later on, then just take 10 of Novarapid. Tis would have levelled out my sugar with less affect on my eyes, I think!
Darren: Yes, find out when it ends from Optus.
Fay: So this is what needs to be worked out this week.
Darren: Don’t re-contract anything, whatever you do!
Fay: I won’t, but I need a new iPad possibly?
Darren: Yes, that’s the sort of thing we need more info on.
No, you don’t!!
Fay: Or a new battery , it is not charging.
If the battery gets too low it won’t charge even when plugged in.
Darren: You can get the battery fixed under warranty or if it’s up of warranty, pay for a new battery.
It’s a lot cheaper than getting a new one or locking in to a new monthly contract. Trust me!!
Fay: Ok, but I need it fixed NOW.
Darren: You will have to wait 1-2 weeks while they repair.
You will have to deal with it!
Fay: I can’t deal with it.
Darren: Use your computer instead over the next 2 weeks.
Fay: 2 weeks is too long.
That means I will be stuck at home where my computer is.
How much is an iPad anyway?
Darren: Take your computer with you.
It has 10 hours battery life.
Over $1200.
Fay: Oh rats!
Darren: For one with a sim like you have.
Just deal with it!
Fay: Can I rent one from them in the meantime?
Darren: take it in to Optus store and ask if they have a loan one at all. They may have.
Did you get that iPad from Optus?
Or was it from Telstra before?
Fay: Well I am here at Optus when it opens up.
I simply can’t be without it for 2 weeks.
Darren: It may only be one week.
Fay: I will find out also when contract is up.
If it is what then?
Darren: Don’t do anything.
I MEAN IT!!
Fay: Well what is the next step if it is??
Darren: You locked yourself in to a bad deal when you did this last time and it cost you money you did’t have monthly.
Fay: But what now? I am happy with my modem and set up.
Darren: You tell me, and let me see if there is anything my team can do to get you a good deal.
Fay: Ok, but it must include internet when I am away from home.
Darren: Your contract from memory is not up until next year anyway.
So work on working out how you will work without y our iPad next week and stop trying to think of how to spend money!!
Fay: I want a loan iPad!!
You are worse than a husband, Darren.
I am at the Coffee Shop at Marion and they have loan battery chargers which is just wonderful.
Darren: Great.
Fay: I have half an hour to wait before Optus is open and I would have to been able to use my phone else.
And they are very fast chargers as well.
Darren: The world is ending if you can’t use your phone!
Fay: I am also managing to charge my iPad as well.
Maybe it is my connections at home that is faulty, not my iPad.
I think I will buy a new powerful battery charger this morning instead of everything else I was thinking about.
Darren: I thought you said you tried a different charger at home?
Fay: I did, but maybe need to buy new one. They are often dodgy.
Breakfast this morning was small mixed fruit salad, 1 boiled egg and spinach.
17.7 sugar level
10 units of Novarapid.
Just got home from Marion before lunch.
Purchased a battery charger for $60.
Am going to try to make do with this battery charger for my iPad and wait for my current plan to run out.
My eyes are ok now so I use have used up excess of insulin.
Lunch at 11.10 am.
The last of the chicken soup and vegetables, tomato, spinach and 1 boiled egg.
At Marion I felt quite good and when walking with my walker my knees did not hurt.
I felt happy about that.
Darren: Try shopping on line.
Fay: I won’t be buying enough to warrant it.
Darren: What do you warrant as enough to justify?
Fay: Well, I still have some food left over and only need to buy some frozen vegetables, some chicken, some avocados and some spinach.
Not worth going all the way to Woollies or ordering on line for that.
Compared to you, I don’t eat much.
If I find I need anything else will go to Foodland.
Darren: Ok.
Preparation is key though. We need to avoid what happened last night.
Fay: I would love to get my vegetables from Woolies but hate going to Harbour Town.
Darren: Order on-line. It is really easy.
Fay: Yes I know but that was because I had underestimated the amount of vegetables I need.
I am sure Woolies would love an order for just vegetables.
2 pm at 12.4 sugar level.
Darren: That’s good, I like those new numbers.
Fay: I am hungry and just been shopping.
Got avocados, tomatoes, celery, spinach mixed leaves, mushrooms, Lamb chops, chicken and frozen vegetables.
Now going to cook my lunch.
Had lunch. 1 fried lamb chop, mushrooms, celer4y, spinach leaves, avocado, cooked frozen vegetables.
Will measure sugar in 1 hour.
In about 15 minutes go to bed for a rest.
5.30 pm a few nuts.
5.30 pm at 13.3 sugar level.
7 pm at 13.3 sugar level.
1 sausage and vegetable soup and avocado.
Darren: That’s really good. Well done!
Food is absolutely on point. So proud!
Fay: Hey, don’t get carried away!!
Darren: Haha, sorry.
Fay: About to take last sugar level before going to bed.
No, too close to last meal.
Darren: Sleep tight.
Fay: Not yet.
Too early for bed.
11 pm at 16.9 sugar level.
10 units of Novarapid
Bed time.
11.45 pm at 15.9 sugar level
20 Lantus.
3.30 am at 11.8 sugar level.
9.00 am at 11.2 sugar level.
Darren: Those sugar levels are better for the morning.
And at 3.30.
The 20 of Lantus seems to work better for you.
Fay: They are, aren’t they?
9 hours sleep. Good solid sleep, little leakage overnight.
Darren: Great, that’s all great.
Fay: Yes it is. Trouble is I woke up too late for a swim at 9 am. Too bad, I will go tomorrow.
Darren: Why can’t you go now?
Fay: Rehab is between 5 am and 10 am. After that all the kids are in the pool and make it difficult to exercise in peace.
Darren: Ah, right.
You could go in the evening.
Fay: Much better to go at 6 am.
Yes, early afternoon is good.
I will go to Inc cafe this morning.
Darren: At least that way it still gives you an opportunity to get in the pool and do some movement
Maybe after that you could go to the movies?
Fay: I will go to the pool later.
I am so pleased about how I feel. Even walking better.
May aim is not to hve to have my knee op.
I reckon it is possible.
And I am loving the food I am eating.
I don’t feel deprived at all.
Ad it is costing me less so I am able to sae more.
Thanks so much, Darren, for helping to motivate me.
Darren: Well, even if you need one still, making these changes now will make recovery a whole lot better with a higher chance of success.
Fay: I have started my ‘Blacksmith’s Daughter’ story again, volume 2 Ch 14 last night.
I worked till midnight.
Yes that’s true about the op.
Darren: Nice work. That is all on your wordpress site now??
Fay. Yes, I am up to 1975.
I think I will just publish it on my web site and not on FB because there will be stuff i there that CDs will not want to read.
Nothing much, but things about my marriage that I can’t leave out because it happened. And is part of my story.
I still have to write your story too.
Darren: You should definitely do it all on your website
Makes way more sense and can’t then also be used as an archive for people to go back on.
Very hard to do that on facebook.
Fay: Yes, I am doing everything in WordPress now.
My ‘following’ numbers have sky-rocketed.
I have actually earned a whole $15 recently on Adsense, Haha.
Darren: Well, look at that!
You could actually get yourself some extra income from all this too.
Fay: No unless I have a lot more followers than I have now.
Though since I have been using wordpress the numbers have increased fourfold.
Don’t people have anything better to do with their time thank read my meanderings?
But I am glad they do because they keep me company on my way.
