20181025 – Thursday – Ali and Trev came!!!
Well, I feel as though a storm has passed through my place. Ali and Trev ARE a storm!
They came with all their own cleaning equipment and with a ton of energy.
They started on the verandah first, and moved all the stuff Jeff wanted to keep onto his back verandah, and off of mine!!
And what was to bin was binned, and what was saved was VERY VERY LITTLE.
Then Ali started on my kitchen and she cleaned every surface.
I went through all my pantry and got rid of every tin, every food from the pantry that Darren had told me was “not good for me.”
So as of today I have NOTHING in my cupboards that is bad for me.
Which means that there is NOTHING in my pantry, Sigh.
Well, needless to say, my stress levels were very high, because it is the first time I have let anyone (any CD) into my space to clean for me.
But now that my place is CLEAN I will go next week to the council to organise a cleaner to come in maybe once a fortnight, because with me and my walker and not being able to do very much now, it will be best in the long run, much as I hate the thought of someone coming to clean.
After Ali and Trev left, I was pretty well exhausted and went to bed.
And so now to my diet.
Wednesday 8.28 am
Fay: took 10 units of insulin.
Darren: Was that before or after breakfast?
Fay: Before.
Breakfast 2 eggs boiled and half an avocado.
Darren: Ok, be interesting to now wait an hour and test again.
Fay: I have lost 1.2 kg since last week. That is amazing loss. I know you aren’t interested in weight but I am.
Darren: I just don’t want you to follow it too much in the fist 3 weeks you lose fluids which give you bigger losses.
That will slow after 3 weeks though.
That is why I just want you to focus on sugar levels only.
Weight loss should only be considered a by-product of this.
Fay: I know that but I want some sort of measurement of how well I am doing.
How much coconut milk can I drink?
Darren: Up to a cup with breakfast.
Up to half a cup with lunch or dinner.
I couldn’t see the chicken label you sent me.
And no chick peas, they are legumes.
Fay: Ok.
1/4 cup of coconut milk and Butter chicken and veg, small dish for lunch. And 1/2 avocado and a banana!! (Sorry Darren) and macadamias
5.25 pm at 17.8 sugar
10 units of insulin
Darren, your Mum and Dad have just left after working miracles.
But I was unable to eat properly whilst they were here.
1 tin tuna and 2 eggs boiled at 5.25.
Darren: Butter chicken?? Did you make that?
Fay: Your Mum did.
I will do Tuesday and Wednesday’s form tomorrow.
Right now I am too tired and going to bed. Time 7.51.
Darren: No probs.
Fay: 10.26 pm 12.4 sugar level.
Darren: That’s a good number.
Fay: Isn’t it! Going back to sleep now.
Wednesday 25 October at 3.22 am at 13.7 sugar.
4.31 am 15. 1 sugar level
Darren: So keep taking your levels between 2 am and 3 am over the next week and record them.
I think you are suffering from the Somogyi effect.
We will talk to your doctor about it.
Essentially you are getting low in sugar levels so your liver is releasing sugar to bring you back up.
But it is releasing too much causing your sugar levels to be high in the morning.
This is the advice given to overcome this.
For Somogyi effect.
Decreasing the dose of diabetes medication that are causing overnight lows.
Adding a bedtime snack that includes carbs.
Doing evening exercise earlier.
If you take insulin, switching to an insulin pump and programming it to release less insulin overnight.
Darren: Let’s keep doing what we are doing for the next few days until the weekend and record the data.
Also recorded how much insulin you take at night time.
Then we can test trying a couple of the above things and see what happens.
Fay: 7.28 am at 16.1 sugar
Took 10 units of insulin.
Ok but I think everything is going so well.
This morning I woke up slowly feeling relaxed and so well.
When I wet to the loo I passed only a small/normal amount of urine and I had only a small amount o leakage overnight as well.
And my veranda is clean and my unit, per favour of your Mum and Dad.
I feel so good.
Thank. You so much for your motivation Darren, Oh, and I threw every tin and everything that is bad for me out as well.
Now for a shower and get dressed.
Darren: Yes things are definitely improving which is good.
