20181103 – Saturday – Mt Barker

I woke this morning and taking Darren’s advice, instead of going to Inc for breakfast and spending way too much on the luxury of breakfast out, I had boiled some eggs the night before, so I ate my breakfast at home.

So when I WAS dressed and ready to go out, I decided to go to Mt Barker for at least part of the day.

I had contacted Selena P last night and learned that Kate was now in her new cottage, renovated by Selena, and everything was in order there, except for a few small jobs still needing work.

Selena herself was hosting a wedding at Bremer farm and would not be doing much except seeing that everything ran well and installing a few fairy lights and such.

That woman! She is so clever, one of the most talented woman I have met in a very long time.

I used to spend a lot of time with her when I owned a couple of properties at Langhorne creek, and lived near to her.

I had my doctor’s  appointment yesterday. When he took my blood pressure it was way too high. I explained to him that I had a “thing” about going to the doctor and my blood pressure always sky-rocketed.

He told me that if that was the case, I would need to either purchase a blood pressure testing machine, or go to a nurse and get her to take my blood pressure, BEFORE I came to see him.

I told him about the film the Magic Pill. He looked it up on the net and took a photo of the details so he will remember to watch it that night.

He is all in favour of a low/no carb diet!!!! Wow, I am really impressed.

He looked at all my details on his computer and told me that my sugar diabetes was completely uncontrolled and I must do something about it.

I told him that everything he had on me was pre-this diet, and no longer applicable and that I commenced this diet on 12th October, 2018.

We agreed that I should go and see Dr Jui Ho, my endocrinologist, or whatever she is, but we agreed that I would do this in 1 month’s time, and in the meantime I would have new blood tests etc. and he could update all my data.

I weighed myself, and he looked up my weight last time he had taken it some time back, and it wa 102 kg.

Now it was 94 kg on his scales.

Wow, that is a difference of 8 kg.

He was VERY impressed with that.

Well, I am so happy that I have finally found a GOOD doctor, one who is ready to learn and doesn’t already “know it all.”

So my blood pressure began to decrease immediately I left the Morphettville Medical centre.

I went to Inc and had a green tea and worked on my diary and other transcribing and stuff.

Another day.

Now for my dietary information.

Fay: I woke up at 6.12 am and went to Inc for breakfast.

I have THE doctor’s appointment at 10.30 this morning.

My weight is 97.1 kg on my scales.

Darren: I emailed u the link to view all your results yesterday.

Fay: Yes, I looked at them.

Darren: Ok, Great. All makes sense?

Your levels have really balanced in the last couple of days.

Fay: Yes, I am travelling well.

I know it is, mixing Lantus with Novarapid.

I have stuck to this eating plan.

I feel good too.

I am at the doctor’s waiting…

Well, I survived the doctor.

And he was very good. First of l weighed myself and last time I was weighed here, I was 102 kg.

This time I was 94 kg!!!!!

Which is 8 kg lighter than when he weighted me last time.

Then he looked through all his records Nd they were all up to date BEFORE I started the diet on 12th October, 2018.

My blood pressure was really high and I said that it was because coming to the doctor always stressed me out.

So he said that in future I am to get my blood pressure checked BEFORE I come in to see him, or y a machine and do my measurements at home.

He wants me to go to my specialist in Diabetes but we agreed I wait a month until my diet really kicks in.

I told him about “The Magic Pill” documentary and he looked it up and copied the link into his diary to watch tonight.

He is all for a low carb diet and encourages all his patients to go on one!!

He is pleased I am so motivated now because my diabetes WAS out of control and he was worried about me.

He wants me to get weight-bearing exercises.

I was not happy with that and said I needed to lose more weight before I did anything about that.

“Too hard,” I said.

“Do you want to get well or don’t you?” He replied.

“Not that well, yet,” was my reply.

I am very, very low in vitamin D he said, so I need to take 3 tablets of Ostelin a day in future, and forever, probably.

Well, he is a good doctor.

I went through 3 other doctors to find him.

I am very relieved and pleased.

I was SO pleased with having lost 8 k since I last saw him, and he was quite impressed with that.

1.00 pm before lunch, 12.8 sugar level.

10 units Lantus.

Must remember to send details of Olive Dangerfield to Liz B who is her relative.

She wrote to me:

My grandfather Arthur Osbourne Johnson was Bernard Johnson’s full brother.  Their father William Bernard Johnson married 3 times, no one in my family spoke about our family so it was wonderful to come across your story.

Thank you for replying back to me. I have bee researching y family history. I’m from the Johnson side of the family, and your story that you wrote was absolutely wonderful. You wrote about some wonderful history events. I have never heard about until I read your stories.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful work on the internet as it is very much appreciate by me.

I would appreciate any further help you can give me in regards to my family history.

King regards, Liz Barron.

I told Liz that there is a documentary of Olive Dangerfield filmed by Michael Rubbo and gave her lots of details and contacts to follow up on.

Darren: That’s all really fantastic news Fay, ( about the diet, I mean).

So that’s great, and the feedback was well deserved.

Very few foods in nature contain vitamin D. The flesh of fatty fish (such as salmon, tuna and mackerel, and fish liver, oils are among the best source, and small amounts of vitamin D are found in beef liver, cheese and egg yolks.

On vitamin D, How much tuna are you eating each day at moment.

Fay: Not a lot.

Darren: I think your eating is about right on this so supplements of vitamin D should be fine.

Fay: I went to bed for rest and slept until 3 pm.

Darren: Yep

Fay: 5.32 pm at 13.1 sugar level.

Dinner at 6 pm.

2 eggs and tomato.

8.36. Pm at 14.7 sugar level.

10 units of Lantus

Spinach, wilted.

Bed at 9.09 pm.

Darren: U and me both.

Fay: Night. Sweet dreams.

This diet has kept me and you in contact more than before.

Darren: Yes, it has. Has been nice.

Fay: It is nice.

Do you remember that time at Adriatic restaurant when that middle-aged married couple came in, obviously for a special occasion and even though they were drinking champagne, had nothing to say to each other.

I said to you, you can always tell who are  married and who are not.

The unmarried couple are always very animated and never stop talking.

The married couple have “said it all,” and often have nothing to say to each other.

You were only about 17 years at the time, and you looked at this couple for quite a while, and then you said.

“Do you think that we will get like that? “ haha.

I laughed so much.

Darren: Yep. I remember. I don’t think we have EVER become like that.

Fay: No, we haven’t.

We have kept up our conversations for around 30 years now, and we have never run out of things to say.
