20190126 – Saturday – Australia Day

Today is going to be a perfect day for me.

It has all the things in it for me to feel happy and light-hearted.

Firstly, a glorious hour’s drive to Strathalbyn.

The weather is all you could ask for, bright and sunny, but not TOO bright and sunny.

And I am sure “the hills are alive with the sound of music.”

And then a beautiful cooked breakfast at Strathalbyn at “the Mean Machine.”

All of this is done whilst making arrangements to meet Kate and Selena who are walking their dog at Goolwa.

They gave me the choice of meeting them at Goolwa in an hour and spending some time at Goolwa, maybe having breakfast (which I have already eaten), or

Driving to Bremer Farm in 2 hours and meeting them there.

From past experience, I know it is safer to meet at Bremer Farm than to try to link up with them at Goolwa.

So Bremer farm it is.

That means that I now have 2 hours to spare here at “the Mean Machine” where I can write up my diary and enjoy the general “ambience” of the place.

I have worked out that I only need to be “with” people for short time spans, and love the feeling of having “a plan” a “destination” but also love the ability to “write” at my leisure.

So I will get my “work” done, and then spend time in Selena’s office sitting at a desk beside Kate who will be working on her computer and Selena working on hers.

Selena will probably be doing “book keeping” and Kate will probably be working at some “paid” work that she has currently going and has a deadline to meet.

So we will sit there, side by side, like “spoggies on a fence.”

We “girls” understand each other, and like to be occupied.

We are there to chat to each other spasmodically, but we can also get our “work” done in companionable silence.

I love my friends.

I am almost 80 years old, and 90% of my friends are 20-30 years younger than me.

Age has never seemed to be obstacle to friendship.
