20190201 – Friday – Girls night out!

I was driving home from my most enjoyable stay at Bremer farm, with a few diversions on the way (through Milang and Langhorne Creek and finally, dinner at the Oasis). 

I was pondering a big problem (for me).

Selena had suggested that I come with her to Tasmania for the 10 days she needed to spend in Launceston on business. 

If I did my accommodation would be free, but that still left “the fare,” and that could be a big problem.

Having just returned from interstate, my coffers were rather depleted, AND the balance in my “Splitwise” account to my friend Darren still stood at $300.

What to do? I would be company for Selena who would otherwise have to spend 10 days alone every night, and could certainly use some company.

So this is how my reasoning went. 

If Jesus were to come in the next couple of years, (which I believe he will/may, whichever), then of what use is money to me then?

And besides my pension just keeps on coming in, so a little nip and tuck in my belt won’t hurt me, and it will be VERY good for my waist-line.

So, I asked “the oracle,” Darren, because he it is  who would have to fund me, because my pay check doesn’t come in until Tuesday next week, and the money for the plane tickets would be due today.

So I “Whatsapped Darren.

“Darren, Selena wants me to come to Tasmania with her on 10th February 2019. 

She has to go on business for about 10 days. I would only have to cover the cost of my fare to Launceston,  but accommodation would be covered for me. 

Does it sound doable to you? 

I get paid next Tuesday and then again a fortnight after that?? What sayest thou??”

Darren’s reply came back,

“Yep, sounds fun.”

So of course, then came the next question,

“Darren, I don’t get paid till Tuesday, are you able to pay the fare for me today, and I will pay you back next Tuesday?”

There are not too many friends one can ask this sort of question, but here is where Darren’s kindness, and “Splitwise” has come in so handy for me.

Darren’s reply to me was instantaneous.

“I have booked your ticket, now do you have a velocity number?

“You owe me ($$$) including credit card fee. 

“I will put it in Splitwise, and because I charged it to my May card, you can have a couple of weeks to pay it back if you need.

Booking Numbr is …….

I replied:

Fay: I think I have a velocity card.

Darren: OK just give it to the airport staff when you check in and they will register the flight for you so you get the points.

So then all I had to do after that was thank Darren, once again, for all his help and “watching my back.” 

So there is is, I am booked in to go to Tassie with Selena on the 10th.

It is sooo good to have friends.

Well, this was all negotiated whilst I was on the way from Bremer farm. 

Then I received another text message from Meg C which read.

“Dear Fay, hope you are free tonight, it’s girls night out at the Esplanade Hotel Brighton 6.30 pm. Hope to c u there.”

I replied”

U will! Thanks.

The Girl’s night out was being held for Rhonda Saxon’s 60th birthday, and I am sure there were other birthdays, but I am no sure who they were for.

I looked at my watch. I was cutting it pretty fine because it was after 5 already.

I felt really tired just then, so I pulled over by the side of the road and had a short sleep, and then about 20 minutes later was on the road again.

I rushed inside my small flat and threw some clothes on and generally tidied up and of I went to the Esplanade Hotel at Brighton.

I managed to get the last parking space in the hotel car park, and Wendy L who was just coming in directed me to the correct cafe area in the hotel.

So there were about 13 of us girls there and soon tongues were wagging at full speed as we all caught up with each other.

I didn’t want to spend any more money on food because I had already blown the budget at the Oasis, so Kate and Selena kindly told me I could share their meal.

We often buy 1 lunch and share it amongst the three of us at the Barker Hotel, so that’s what we did on this occasion.

Once again, this is what good friends do!!
