20181230 – Sunday – Mt Gambier to Warrnambool.

I called into a cafe in Mt Gambier and had bacon and eggs for breakfast.

I then went to Coles and purchased a few supplies and then I was on my way to Warrnambool.

My first stop was at the Warrnambool Beach backpackers camping site.

This was on Stanley Street and was mainly for backpackers and tent campers.

It was a very small site and I decided it was not suitable for me.

I then keyed in the discovery parks at Warrnambool.

This place was simply humming and a hive of activity. I went to the office and found the camp was full up, but since I was just such a small rig, they said they could find a spot for me.

But then, came the crunch, the price was $60!!!!

No way!!!

Okay, well now for a drive around Warrnambool to see what I could find.

I went to a nearby oval and drove around the edges.

There were LOTS of suitable places for me to park my trailer.

There were free car parks everywhere, that is if you have such a small rig as I have.

But it was all so busy!!

I drove around the streets of Warrnambool and came to a river and a reserve right opposite a cemetery. Perfect!!

I drove up next to a big boat that was Moored on the river.

It was such a pleasant site and so peaceful.

There was only one car on the reserve and they soon left.

There were fishermen on the wharf sitting in deck chairs and fishing.

I sat in my car and absorbed the peacefulness after the rush and bustle of the main streets of Warrnambool.

As it grew later, I drove up under a big pine and parked my van, and climbed inside.

And that was where I stayed for the night.

The reserve was Scoborio reserve and the boat was advertisers as Warrnambool river cruises.

There were so many places in Warrnambool where I could have stayed overnight and none of them would have cost me anything.

I slept well overnight and in the morning I tidied everything up and then went looking for breakfast.

I tried the Pavilion which was in a beautiful location right by the sea and two granity looking islands.

But the cafe was upstairs and there was lift to get there, but of course, it was out of order, and the whole place looked kind of seedy to me.

So I tried the next place Clovelly restaurant. It was a motel, actually, but I had seen a bus load of people who had just had breakfast there and it was open.

So I ordered breakfast, poached eggs, spinach, avocado, tomato and mushrooms.

It was good.

So now I am sitting here writing up my diary and soon I will be on my way.

I notice my friend Simon S is on a houseboat at Moana on the Murray with his family.
