20190105 – Saturday – Rhyll to Beaconsfield –

The night over, I checked my sugar levels and found they 7.6 sugar level and therefore no need for insulin.

I would love to know what I weigh right now, but one thing is for sure, I am losing circumference at the rate of knots.

I found it hard to wake up properly so I just lay there for maybe a half an hour or so.

I finally decided to get dressed and tidy everything up and be on my way.

I got into my car and then saw in front of me a group of “dog-walkers” going by, and one of them was Joy Pascoe with her greyhound.

This was my hospitable new friend from the White House across the esplanade, out on her morning “dog-walk.”

She stopped and came up to the door of my car and said,

“We are starting on our diet today.  We watched The Magic Pill and also listened to one of Dr Tim Noakes’ lectures, and we are convinced.

I was delighted and told her that I felt sure that if she stuck to the diet, many/most of her ailments would just disappear.

She told me there was a nice cafe further up the esplanade and so I drove there and parked and went in for breakfast.

This cafe turned out to be the hub of morning life at Rhyll.

The cafe was absolutely full and a constant stream of  coffees moved from the kitchen to the tables.

I had my usual breakfast of poached eggs, bacon, avocado, tomato, mushrooms and spinach.

I ate at a table outside under an umbrella, but after I had eaten, I came inside where it was a little warmer, to write up my diary.

Today being the 5th January, and daughter number 3 expecting me in Melbourne on the 6th I decided it was time to be on my way.

I decided to check out the Akoonah Park Showgrounds to see if I could stay there overnight.

I drove to the gate and rang the phone number provided but was told that the campsite was booked out until Jan 10.

I found a gate that was open and drove around the site to see what it was like.

All the caravans and tents were crowded into one small area and so it didn’t look too good to me, but then I drove around the rest of the Showgrounds and found that they are quite extensive.

I found myself a nice spot away from everyone and out of sight behind some trees and I was soon set up for the night.

I sat inside my trailer and ate the last of my food supplies.

I only had a small amount of protein left, and that wasn’t “good protein,” it was some Kransky that I had left and no fish (I will buy some next time, Darren).

But I did have tomato, cucumber, spinach, green pepper, and some grapes, cherries and some nuts and dates, so I certainly didn’t  starve.

I have found that dates are a good safety item to have with me at all times.

If my sugar levels are ever too low, dates have loads of natural sugar in them so they will stop me from having a hypo.

Also dates are filling and satisfying if I have nothin else to eat.

And I always have a big plastic jar of nuts that I carry with me, and lots of bottled water, so I never have to worry about being caught with nothing.

Darren just messaged me. He says I have been “caught with” something!

A speeding fine!!!  Woe is me.

I asked him where I had been speeding and in particular, what State I was in at the time.

He said it was in SA and it was on Military road West Beach.

Well that is near my home, and I know that spot!

It is in 50 k zone, and I must have been doing 60.

He says it is only one point.

How many demerit points do I have already???? I wonder.

Well, I will find out when I get back to SA whether I am driving or not!

It is now 4.45 pm and I am all settled and cosy in my “cocoon.”

About 1/2 hour after I had settled down for the night, I heard a voice outside.

I asked who it was and the voice said, “I am the Showgrounds caretaker”

The gentleman told me I could no park where I was parked.

I told him that I had wanted to park in the Caravan park area but had been told that it was fully booked.

I asked him if it was possible for me to stay till abut 8.00 am tomorrow morning.

He relented and let me stay!

He told me that if it had been an ordinary weekend, I would have found the gate locked and I would not have been able to get out until the next day.

Hmm. That would have been fun!!

So I slept surrounded by nothing but trees and grass in isolation from the rest of the world.

It was lovely.
